Line Webtoon, Knightrun is an ongoing webtoon. 75 ‘Pray’ episdoes, 90 ‘Another’ episodes, 3 ‘Extra Story’ episodes, 22 ‘Hero’ episodes, 5 ‘Story’ episodes, 79 ‘Nightfall’ episodes, and 3 ‘Knightrun’ episodes has been out so far. It looks confusing, but all you need to do is just simply read it from the start. 

In year 430 in Universe calendar, interstellar teleporting became possible, and humans and monsters are fighting each other. As the webtoon description says “SF adventure with vast outer space as its background starring knights”, this webtoon is a SF space webtoon.   

 

The drawing style just feels like a SF webtoon. Subtly dark colors and ambience look really cool. Fight scenes between monsters especially look spectacular. The fight between the two of the strongest monsters Crosseye Alpha and Beta was like big thunders and lightnings striking relentlessly. 

 

In the “Night Fall’ episodes”, it was fun to watch the war between the knight templars with amazing fight scenes as expected. It has colorfull paintings and drawings,it seems like guys will enjoy this webtoon as well. It is also known for its well-organized stories. It feels more like a comic than a webtoon, which a more casual version. It has impressions similar to “Neon Genesis Evangelion”.

Some people might say webtoons and comics are the same, but webtoons usually tend to have smaller episodes and lesser character lines than comics, so it is more casually read. However, character lines and drawings in Nightrun make me recall times when I used to binge read stacks of comics.

The webtoon is quite intimidating to start with such long and complex storyline, but people who liked Evangelion or Gundam before might like this webtoon too.

 

If you once get into this webtoon’s universe, there are limitless topics, hypotheses, analyses, and predictions. If not, it might be difficult to understand these. This is why I read this webtoon from the beginning multiple times. In one of the interviews, the author Seong Min Kim said he invested a lot of time and effort polishing the details of the universe he created himself. All the skills that characters use in the webtoon are all in chinese characters as if they appear on Chinese martial arts novels. When you google Nightrun, you will find “Nightrun universe”, “Nightrun term explanations” as its related search terms.

Also, you can read many stories of dying people. One explosion results at least a planet destroyed, which causes many casualties. Same applies for wars between the knights who have crazy advanced technology.

In the author’s interview, he said he wanted to say something about the devastating consequences of wars. It would be the same if people die and planets explode during a war in real life.

 

Anyways, people who likes SF genre will absolutely love this webtoon.
