‘Side Kick 2’, a story of hero and villain comes back as a sequel of ‘Side Kick 1’. In the season 1, the story was focused on Lamia Lilith and her master Dark Slug. The last episode ended up with the story that Dark Slug, her master, was fatally wounded and got lost, leaving wonderful preview. 

It is battle story that describes the battle between hero and villain, which is very common. The plot is that righteous hero protects citizens from attacks by evil villain. Unlike the recent works, it is more like American comics rather than Japanese style battle story. However, I think that even if it is about battle between hero and villain, heroes that appear in the middle and evil practices in the Side Kick course is more emphasized than the fighting with villain. 

In fact, the view of the world is somewhat awkward. First of all, people who can use psychic powers, a superpower (commonly called as supublic) should enter Justice College (kind of school) and if they fail to become a hero or side kick, they should join the undercore and become a soldier. (How terrible it is… You may know even if I don’t say anything.) Furthermore, if they don’t follow this course, they will be branded as villain even though they didn’t commit any crimes and lived as good. This itself is already a serious human rights violation issue against Supublic.) But this is not all. The bigger problem is that killing villains right away is not a big deal, but rather they praise heroes. (You may feel that nothing’s wrong, but it is a big mistake. It is very dangerous way of thinking. Dealing criminals right away means that they don’t respect criminal’s human rights at all. If this way of thinking becomes basis, anyone who commits a crime can be handled by heroes, not through legal procedures.)

Anyway, Lamia, who became a hero, appears in season 2. She appears somewhat awkward manner, but she is the strongest hero alive. But the current heroes are mostly dead or missing unlike when Lamia just became the side kick. This means that it is perfect time for villain to act. It is very difficult time so the most heroes reluctant to reveal that they are heroes. (You can think that Gotham City in the Batman series.) The background of season 2 is the situation with deformed structure in which villains hunt for the heroes. 

 

In such situation, one girl suddenly visits Lamia and says that she is deserved to become a hero. Lamia really wants to kill all the villains in this era when the heroes are all disappeared. She is also called as Nightmare, the most dreadful hero. She has a powerful force that is not comparable to a side kick. 

 

Even though she became so powerful, but her servile and timid personality is still same. This may because she is used to obey someone because she was trained very hard under Dark Slug. But such personality appears in front of her seniors. When she fights with villains, she never shows such timid appearance. Rather, speech style, tone and fighting style are much more violent and cool, and she never gives mercy or sympathy to villains. When she fights with bald villain while meeting Jina, she showed cruel aspects by stabbing his eyes, bursting his eardrums and pulling his tongue. (She was much different before). Since then, she showed more shocking behaviors. When she murdered villain called ‘White Dresser’, she was so horrible and cruel that Lamia, who is a hero, looks like villain. So, there was a scene in which even the broker said she might be disqualified as a hero because she is too cruel. 

There is a work called First Mission, a spin off between side kick 1 and 2. In this work, Dark Slug is the main character and story is about his past, reason why he became strong and accidents in the past. I recommend you to see this work as well. Then, you can understand story more easily. This work is also very fun. 

 

Along with First Mission, currently season 3 is serialized, so I recommend you to see all of these. Then, you can understand story more easily and you can focus on the story more. It is a webtoon I strongly recommend for those who like hero cartoon.
