Let's meet the Tuesday Title of LINE Webtoons by the artist Yaongyi, 'True Beauty'.
The main character Joo-gyeong Lim is a recognized goddess who receives everybody's attention. She is the goddess who is used to hearing the whispers saying that she has a beautiful face and a proportional body, encountering several men asking for her number on daily basis and witnessing the kindness that gives her a mountain of whipped cream when she requests it at her favorite cafe. Moreover, Joo-gyeong is a celebrity who is famous on 'INSTA-STAR'.
Of course, being pretty may not be ideal sometimes, but Joo-gyeong loves her prettiness. The pretty and perfect lady even for herself. ...is only until she clears up the makeup. The image of Joo-gyeong without her makeups soon appears, and she indeed looks very different before and after decorating herself.
Joo-gyeong mastered her makeup skills thanks to a senior male student who she met at a cafeteria when she was in her third year of middle school. Joo -gyeong heard that the senior student who she had a crush on had been dating a pretty girl in her class and thought she couldn't get connected to him because of her appearance.
She then got depressed and posted her concern on an anonymous bulletin board. Those who had read it introduce her to the world of makeups. Thus, Joo-gyeong spends her last junior high school vacation to study makeups and starts a new life as soon as she enters senior high.
Though it was fun to hang out with new friends with a pretty face, she had to maintain her image as the 'charming schoolgirl' at school. But when she came home, she could enjoy whatever she wanted after getting disarmed. Her new school life seemed to go on in a stable way, but she meets a boy called Su-ho who was trying to grab the same comic book from a bookstore where she went to borrow a comic book. Afterward, Joo-gyeong finds out that Suho is a transfer student at her school.
The shape of Joo-gyeong inside the school and outside the school. Su-ho discovers that these two identities point to the same person and takes such secret as her weak point. But then, this becomes the opportunity for Joo-gyeong and Su-ho to get closer, and they begin to show surprising aspects together.
The merit of 'True Beauty' is that it paints the beauty of each character very delicately, just as the title 'True Beauty' suggests. The artist's Stable and precise drawing style definitely adds to the pleasure of reading the webtoons, but it sometimes gets embarrassing because it emphasizes the pretty face and body of high school students. As people's faces and makeups are the main subjects of the webtoon, there are times when such themes feel inappropriate in today's society that criticizes lookism.
However, the story of the webtoon is quite realistic. As long as you are unaware of certain issues, you might be able to have a really fun time reading it. It is a webtoon that always stays at the top of all Tuesday webtoons, so if this type of webtoon suits your preference, it is definitely not bad to give it a read.
