Imagine there is another 'being' that is living in your house.

And imagine that 'being' is sharing your trivial daily life.

The imagination itself is so creepy that it will blow the heat away.

However, <My Boo> is not so creepy.

It's because both the characters of human 'Yuri So' and ghost 'Jun Ko' are good souls with clear hearts without any ill wills.

If you're suffering in the heat that is reaching almost 30 degrees this summer, blow the heat away with romantic horror(?) <My Boo>.

'Yuri So' is a woman who can see ghosts from a young age. As she visits a real estate to move house, she contracts for the new house without inspection just because it is cheap. But house prices are cheap for a reason. Nobody else but childlike young boy ghost 'Jun Ko' living in her new house. Yuri So hides the fact that she can see Jun Ko to no longer get involved with ghosts, but she reacts to the ghost for the first time in 18 years. Eventually, Yuri So and Jun Ko comfort each other, start living together in one house.

“Whatever you see, whatever you hear, ignore them all." Yuri So's childhood was pretty depressing. She was called 'strange kid' or 'the kid who sees ghosts' wherever she went. Hence, she couldn't go to a kindergarten The people who heard about her ability even came to her house often to ask her to show them their dead friends and family. Yuri So's mother tried to calm her down by telling that "whatever you see, just ignore them", but, she still couldn't simply ignore 'them'.

Even in the new elementary school which she transferred to for a new life, Yuri So couldn't turn away on ghosts and became friends with the dead girl 'Minhee'. But soon, as the feelings of Minhee toward Yuri So changed from 'pure friendship' to 'obsession with humans', Yuri So began to deny her own abilities for the first time. She then decided to no longer sympathize with ghosts who she cannot be responsible for, regretting her choices of trying to help Minhee.

She is passive before starting 'relationships'. She feels fear when reaching out a hand toward someone else and thinks that minding about whoever other than herself is useless. It's no wonder because she has been always surrounded by ghosts who wanted to use her power. What's noticeable is here is that the desire to get and achieve something by manipulating somebody else is not only seen in the relationships between humans and ghosts. Rather, it can be observed more often in 'the human world' that we live in. This way, the webtoon depicts the various emotional changes that take place in relationships through the character Yuri So and other 'ghosts' surrounding her from a distance.

Nice-looking appearance and lively way of talking unlike a ghost. These are the characteristics of Jun Ko, the ghost living in Yuri So's house. Three years ago, in his graduation party, he got drunk and suffocated by vomiting while asleep. Though he found it difficult to accept his sudden death, he soon adapted to living as a ghost.

As it can be felt by looking at the still cuts, Jun Ko is quite humane in the webtoon. He cares about others too much, and his emotions fluctuate severely. Though he is pleased with the fact that he has finally met someone to talk to, he soon gets hurt and feels let down by Yuri So's rejection. He acts pretty like a human being except that he cannot be touched. Rather than threatening Yuri So who is 'a human' that is different to him, he plays the role of Superman who always comes out when she needs help. Yuri So also gets moved by Jun Ko's active and yet, passive personality and starts to open her mind that was shut down after the incident with Minhee.

Unlike Minhee, Jun Ko never forces her. Even though he misses humans, as he knows that he can't stay together with them, he doesn't get obsessed with people and try to constrain them. Instead, he makes you to 'want to be with him'. He approached Yuri So by helping her translation job and conversing with her only to the degree where she doesn't get burdened. In the end, Jun Ko's ability to naturally attract people by humane appeals come from his pure heart toward Yuri So. After Yuri So realizes that Jun Ko is different from Minhee as time went by, she begins to rely on him as 'a human', not a ghost.

In fact, Yuri So living together with Jun Ko is no different from that of human beings living together. No, there may actually be more emotional exchanges at a higher level than humans. Although they can't touch and, reach each other, it is clear that understand one another. That's why the webtoon is 'transparent' and yet, beautiful.

So then, what about us who live interacting with our family, friends, and lovers? Do we really care for each other? Are we really 'together'? Are we sharing the same feelings and joys or are we thinking lightly of each other without realizing it to hurt them? Are we becoming a comfort to each other just by our existence? The answer to such questions will be probably up to individuals.

The appeal of this webtoon is, above all, it's fresh materials. Living together with a ghost in one bed, have we even dared to imagine such thing? Besides, the point is that the genre is 'romance', not horror. Even though the romantic relationships are yet to be developed, as Yuri So states 'It seemed to me that the days I will like Jun Ko would never come ' in Episode 14, I expect that the love lines will soon appear. In hot summer days like today, if you want to blow the heat away not with scary horror webtoons, but with cool and refreshing webtoon, I certainly recommend <My Boo> in which the protagonist lives with a ghost that is more humane than an actual person.

Even at this moment, there may be 'a good ghost' that keeps you from harms living somewhere in your house.
