This should've been in the List! Drug Candy
5 were not enough. Thinking again, it surely wasn’t enough. I selected 5 webtoons before, and I have been in regret, thinking of many works I couldn’t include in the list. It didn’t leave my mind that ‘I should’ve added this work in the list! Or this one!’ Thus, today, I’m going to add one more work to the list. Completed in 2016, genre is not concerned. Selected by my taste.
Drug Candy
Completed on June 20, 2016
Author: Lee Hyunmin
Genre: Mature
My wandering journey to meet my soul mate is always consisted of only scrolls and clicks. Some says, for a girl the inner side is more important than the looks, but our journey of seeking a mate always stops at the looks. But no one feels a sense of shame or blames himself for that. There’s no need for that. Because the one we’re looking for is not a soul mate for the entire life but a girl for a petty one night stand. In the age of that everything is decided by the face value, we’re only looking for the most efficient mate. Let’s believe that way. Even if she can’t get out from the screen, a lover is a lover. That girl in the form of a bed pillow, and that girl standing in someone’s desk, every one of them are a genuine lover. Looking for a mature webtoon is similar. Even if we are only peeping two other people, as much as we share the same memory, we can say we laid with her. Or so it must be.
In that context, it is natural for us to read a review to find the inner side value which can’t be judged from the face value. Therefore, I tell you: this is hot. Buy this. Putting aside those already running to buy, let us talk about this some more. It was really surprising to hear that the author Lee Hyunmin, who had drawn Ready to Start series in Line, began to serialize Drug Candy in Lezhin. He was an artist who is good at jokes, so I was concerned if he could make a work without habitual joking. In previous works, he has been making use of serious directing, but he had an unstoppable sense of joke in there. But in Drug Candy, it’s clearly serious and sexy in the scenes without jokes. It showed the true aspect of Lee Hyunmin. But, of course, sometimes it breaks the immersion as I see characters of Ready to Start in the characters of Drug Candy: in particular, the guy who likes the wife and the protagonist look like they would be in the company Tempest Agency, Inc.
