One of the most important aspect of webtoon is its ‘colors’. Vivid and Flashy colors attract readers’ attentions, but soft and mellow colors are also very alluring. Such colors have power to create sentimental moods, so it makes beautiful scenes combined with well-matching drawings. Here, the illustrator Jenna has both delicate drawing style and mellow colors.

 

1. Telling Through the Colors. / Line / Yohan, Hye Jin Kim (Jenna)

 

  This webtoon is consisted of three separate stories about the topic ‘color’ which could be a little odd theme for a webtoon. The webtoon mainly discusses about natural dyes informing readers about rather unfamiliar dyes such as gardenia, safflower, and indigo with not much difficulty. The webtoon conveys each different character’s emotions with such mellow colorfulness. Jenna’s delicate drawings particularly fits the colors of these colorful natural dyes.  

 

  This webtoon, which is Jenna’s third webtoon, has its shortcomings, but the webtoon is appealing as mellow colors and drawings create empathetic and smooth flow without complicated stories that causes headaches. Also, such drawings and colors deal with each character’s inner feelings not their unique external characters, which induces elegant and romantic beauty similar to the aromatic scent of a perfume.

 

2. Nineteen Twenty-one / Line / Yohan, Hye Jin Kim(Jenna)

 

  The second webtoon, Nineteen Twenty-one is about stray cats. Landscapes in this webtoon drawn with a neater manner than the previous works. It shows naturally delicate scenes with a comfortable style, trademark of Jenna’s drawings. Similar to Telling Through the Colors, characters’ feelings are clearly shown through colors and other media in a well-told story of a somewhat unfamiliar theme, stray cats.

 

  In the story, the stray cats are the link between the two protagonists. A guy who waits for the liberation, and in the encounter of the couple waiting for advancing while bounded by their own destinies, the scene resembles spring the most of all seasons. This causes readers to feel comfortable like tea time in the afternoon instead of making them feel complicated. Even more, Jenna’s delicate drawings which is perfectly suited at depicting youth dramas creates the mood that suits the adjective, ‘healing’. 

 

3. Girls of the Wild’s / Line / HUN, Jenna 

 

  With a new partner HUN who has been drawing action webtoons, this webtoon has a little different feeling from previous works. Depicting action requires hefty lines and powerful colors, so Jenna’s drawings might not have been a great fit, but her delicate drawings surprisingly fit well with the action as well. Her drawings definitely are not the repulsive type, so it goes well together with the webtoon, and it is causing good effects. 

 

  The webtoon’s main theme is girl’s martial arts. This lets drawings of Jenna who is good at drawing beauties even more glowing. Each different unique character has more dynamic impressions different from characters from previous webtoons. This means Jenna is capable of portraying various spectrums of characters regardless of the genre of the story.
