Sex Lessons, The memory of dirt and mud
The writer is HC and the artist is GaeTi for Lezhin Comics’ new webtoon ‘Sex Lessons’. I read the last two webtoons of both HC and GaeTi. Both of them do their writer’s and artist’s works together at last webtoons. HC’s last webtoon is ‘A Dog Collar’ and GaeTi’s last webtoon is ‘The Siren’. I emphasize the writer HC’s last webtoon ‘A Dog Collar’. I posted a review of ‘A Dog Collar’ on the Webtoon Guide.
The drawing style is fine. In fact, there seems to be no webtoon with a bad drawing style in Lezhin Comics’ adult webtoons. The last webtoon ‘The Siren’ has a good quality of drawing style matching well to a fantasy genre. A story of the webtoon, well, it is not a review for ‘The Siren’, so I can’t judge it. But the artist was too greedy with way too big scale compared to the artist’s ability and circumstances. The webtoon ended in ambiguity with only one chapter.
Let me talk about ‘Sex Lessons’ again. College student ‘Woohyun’ is the main character and has a girlfriend ‘Moon Ina’ who is the hottest girl on campus. It’s wonderful to have the hottest girl as a girlfriend, but Woohyun has a secret worry. It has been a long time since they are dating, but there is no ‘sexual thing’ between them and also Woohyun doesn’t have any sexual experience. To Woohyun, his childhood friend, Ha-eun who has not contacted for 4 years, shows up and offers him ‘sex’ lessons. Woohyun doesn’t know whether she is joking or not, but he also doesn’t think her just as a friend.
The title of this review is ‘Memory of Mud’ because I remember memories related to the last webtoon of HC, ‘A Dog Collar’. You would know if you read ‘A Dog Collar’ or my review about the webtoon. It is a love war among many college students. There are many crimes and threats like a sticky mud far beyond just a love triangle. Only two episodes of ‘Sex Lessons’, which the artist of ‘A Dog Collar’ is in charge of the story, show there could be a love war among them too. Ha-eun, Moon Ina and Woohyun resemble characters of ‘A Dog Collar’.
I don’t know it is because of the artist or advice of an editorial department. It will be lighter and less sticky than the last webtoon. I read ‘A Dog Collar’ really well, but it was too long, and the undesirable story made me a bit exhausted. I hope the writer HC strengthens his strength and make up popular appeal with his new webtoon.
