There is a story that is becoming very popular on social media. It is called [Your Letter] written by Cho Hyeon A. It is a summer special on Line, and has captured the hearts of readers with its uniquely warm and calm atmosphere. A lot of people have been saying it is a shame that it only has 10 episodes.

The protagonist goes out to help a classmate who is being bullied in school but sadly, she becomes the target instead. As soon as Sori tells her classmates to stop, their glare is quite scary. That summer vacation, the friend whom Sori has been helping, tells her that she is transferring to another school.

At that moment, Sori thinks, ‘How about me?’ Sori cries as she tells her grandmother that she regrets helping her classmate, but she would have regretted it more if she have not done it. In this part, we can feel how good Sori is. Sori has been going to school from her grandmother’s house, so she decides to go back to her dad’s house to study.

She transfers to a new school, and even if she knows that nobody will bother or bully her here, she cannot help but feel scared. She is unable to respond properly as to why she transferred school, making the readers feel sad for her. Perhaps that was the start, because Sori slowly becomes an outcast.

Sori then finds an envelope attached under her desk. It is a letter that goes, ‘welcome to our school. This letter was written to introduce you to this place.’ Once the envelope is opened, there is a map of the school’s main building, as well as the pictures and name cards of Sori’s classmates. Additionally, the letter also states that if she wanted to read more, Sori has to find the second letter.

After examining the hints of where the next letter is placed, Sori realizes that the person who wrote the letter is ‘Jung Ho Yeon.’ Ho Yeon is not Sori’s classmate, and it seems like he has already transferred school. However, Sori is able to adapt to her new school thanks to Ho Yeon’s letters, and can predict what happened in school.

[Your Letter] tells the story of Sori in a warm and calming way. The modern color palette and style are very well suited to the webtoon. A comment mentioned how it feels similar to ‘Studio Ghibli’ which makes it even more memorable. It feels like it gives a more special meaning to its readers, who are so used to smartphones and the internet, as it is relayed through the medium of letters. As you read the webtoon, you become curious about Ho Yeon, and you can feel the warmth in your chest as you watch Sori slowly adapt to her school.

As you read on, it makes you feel disappointed that it only consists of 10 episodes. As a summer project, it will probably end around fall after 10 weeks of updates. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what the author has in store for us through Sori. Please do read it!
