[Best Curation] Complicatedly twisted, but with messeges. Writer Sini
All writers have their own style of writing. This applies the same to artists who draw and paint. This is the so-called unique colors of creators. Then what is the webtoon creator, Sini's own creative style? His style can be that he tries to include as many subjects and themes in one story. It can be about studies of psychology, insights, or artistic intuitions.
1. About Death / Sini, Hyuno / Drama
The death eventually comes to anyone on this earth. There is no webtoon that has put death in such simple and neat terms as in this webtoon. There are webtoons that use death as a device to signal a turning point, but this webtoon discusses the deaths of each different individuals.
The story seems simple but very complex at the same time. However, it’s not that difficult to follow because the webtoon is about people’s lives and these lives are lives that reader themselves or people near them have gone through or are going through. The webtoon conveys the story in such a simple and neat style, which lets readers to easily identify with the characters in the story.
2. The World Without You / Sini, Hyuno / Disaster
This is Sini – Hyuno duo’s second webtoon, The World Without You. What do they want to tell readers in this webtoon? Maybe it’s ‘the meaning of the existence’ that they wanted to talk about. <Changick Kim> changes after one incident that happened by coincidence one day. And behaviors of people around him orchestrates the stunning finale that leaves readers feeling like being hit in the head hard by something.
The webtoon clearly shows how ordinary people who are just like us can change. This is probably why this webtoon feels so realistic even though it’s a fantasy. Deep and serious subject in this webtoon makes us think ‘What if I’m like them’ and wonder about the real meaning of the existence.
3. Identity / Sini, Suhoon / Mystery
Honestly, I worried a little bit when I heard Sini and Hyuno duo separated. I mean the duo was the perfect partners; the webtoons by them are all must-reads. However, it was a useless worry. There was something unimaginable in the webtoon, Identity by Sini and Suhoon.
The first thing that comes in my mind was the webtoon’s artistic expression. Pencil sketch style webtoon flawlessly illustrates Sini’s complex story while intensifying it even further and creating a great synergy. The story is about a man becomes completely different people every time he dreams during the night. It could be hard to understand, but it has a subtle creepiness that’s never shown in previous works.
