Love is of great scope.

In the dictionary, love refers to a feeling or an action that very much values and cares for another person or being.

Love is so diverse that it can be aimed at the opposite sex, the same sex, a parent, a child, or even an animal. We can, from time to time, witness that people sometimes accomplish something that they can't normally do because of love.

For example, we occasionally hear of mothers who unleash their unimaginable power of love at the moments of crisis for their child or those who sacrifice themselves to save their beloved lover or spouse. They are indeed impressive, but it's also true that such actions feel more special because they can't easily be understood from common sense and rarely happen in reality.

The cause of love proven by science is as follows. Love triggers a component of the brain called the caudate nucleus, which produces dopamine which is commonly referred to as the potion of love. The activity of the caudate nucleus gets reduced by 50% after a year, and for such reason, scientists claim that a person can intensely love somebody else for only 900 days at most.

But irrespective of these scientific theories, people also spend a lifetime with their loved ones. Thereby, I am going to introduce a webtoon that depicts the story of 'Twenty-Fifth Bam (called Bam for short)', a boy who began a reckless adventure to find 'Rachel', a girl who meant everything for him.

The webtoon , which has been published on LINE Webtoons since 2010, is not actually about the beautiful love story of a boy and a girl. The genre of this title is fantasy and adventure in which the boy 'Bam' starts climbing up a tower to find the missing girl, Rachel, who suddenly disappeared. However, the reason why I talked about love in the introduction and linked it to this title was that I had a question about Bam's feelings toward Rachel.

In the webtoon, the small and weak boy who knew nothing continues to face impossible challenges beyond his limits in unfamiliar settings to meet Rachel again. In the process, Bam grows up by learning the abilities that he didn't realize he had them. Therefore, it becomes possible to guess that it was not by coincidence, but by inevitable reason, that the boy was able to enter the tower. However, I personally believe that Bam had ultimately to begin this adventure because of his love for Rachel or his obsession of seeing her again.

The tower that acts as the setting for this webtoon is a tower comprised of hundreds of continental-sized floors, where you can go up to the next floor if you pass the exams prepared on each floor. Once you reach the top floor, you can literally attain whatever you want. And driven by their desires to get what they want, thousands of competitors are tested together, all of whom have different abilities and they all risk their lives to fulfill their individual desires.

In the process, they ally with each other to overcome the exams and also get betrayed as well. Among them, Bam is the only one who doesn't have greedy thoughts, but the simple desire to just see Rachel again. He is the only character who keeps challenging the obstacles by awakening the endless power that was hidden inside him through pure wishes.

 

To Bam, Rachel is the reason why he is able to continue the dangerous challenges in which he could die in without giving up. In the webtoon, Bam emphasizes how important her existence means to him and how desperate he is to see her again by telling the readers that, 'She taught me everything. All the speeches I hear, all the texts I read, all the senses I feel belong to her'.

In the tower, there are managers on each floor who determine what the tests are going to be, and the difficulty gets harder as the competitors go up the floors. Those who are allowed to take tests within the tower are generally called chosen regulars. 

They can move around the tower through the inner tower and the middle area. They used to live in the outer tower which was the residential area of the tower, and then, got qualified to actually enter the tower where the exams were taking place.

In the case of Bam, he was an irregular who was exempt from the rules of the tower. As such irregulars hold a strong power in most cases, they usually receive hostile attentions from the chosen regulars. But as Bam gets into troubles from the first, 

lowest level of the tower and has no special abilities or weapons unlike any other earlier irregulars who have entered the tower until then, he starts raising questions. Therefore, he can only be perceived as an anomaly to everyone just by his existence, and he becomes more threatening to other competitors because no one can predict what its hidden abilities are. 

As such, the webtoon depicts the challenges of the main character Bam and other various characters and it is available in 11 languages including English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Turkish, Polish, Romanian, Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese, gaining a lot of popularity even in overseas.

As Tower of God has been running for a long time, it keeps arousing the readers' curiosity for them to guess how the story would develop by portraying various interesting characters, different forms of tests that continue to change and the protagonist Bam's growth as he passes through the tests.
