The 'webtoon' that has been growing up with the collapse of published comics currently created the most developed comic market in Korea. Its status is increasing more and more due to the fact that there is an active media mix such as drama, movie, etc.

However, the beginning of the ‘webtoon’ was humble as it was mainly dealing with light comedy or small things in our daily life only few years ago.

Today, I am going to talk about the <Noblesse> which broke the existing limitations of the webtoon.

 

 In 2007, when published comics began to collapse and the stereotype of the ‘webtoon’=’daily/comedy cartoon' existed, even characters with a 12-head body proportion suddenly appeared in a situation where there were very few characters with a 8-head body proportion.

The webtoon <Noblesse> was a comic that the characters battle each other with a beautiful drawing style other webtoons did not have.

 

The ‘drawing style’ for considering girl readers and the theme ‘battle’ for considering boy readers, and interesting ‘direction’ that ‘Noblesse’ awakened from sleep start traveling Seoul caught readers' attention from the beginning.

 

The story starts with the content that 'Noblesse-Lisere', who has been sleeping for a long time, wakes up and accidently attend a school. Later on, the story continues by revealing the reason why he had to sleep and other related secrets. 

 

It was already outstanding in lots of ways, but as it moved from one season to the next, it's drawing style gradually exceeded the level of the 'webtoon' we already knew, which brought lots of love from fans.

Its fan cafe is still active. And, it can be said to be a 'hero' of the webtoon market and a webtoon that has made a turning point of the Korean comic market because it created the opportunity to revive the publishing industry by being published in a book form and novelized.

Extraordinary beautiful characters, Frankenstein, Tao, M-21, etc., with a munchkin-like character ‘Nobelesse-Lai’ attracted many fans while expressing their charms as season changes. Personally, I think this is the first ‘fandom’ that was created from the webtoon.

 

Of course, many fans have recently left it due to the simply bored direction and story as it has been being published serially for a long time and stops of being published from time to time.

 

It is the webtoon that has been loved more than five years, so ‘Noblesse’ still appears at Naver's popular search words every Tuesday.

 

And, the webtoon <Noblesses> with a meaningful start is still published in a series.

 

Japanese shonen manga series <One Piece>, <Naruto>, and <Bleach> are called WonNaBle by its popularity and lots of readers in our country treat it as a mustread. I finish this review by recommending <Noblesse> if I have to choose one comic from the webtoon.
