The school is changing gradually. ‘The World is Money and Power’

There is a Webtoon that has become a hot topic in many ways. Naver Webtoon ‘The World is Money and Power’ by writers Han DongWoo and Lee DoHee.
Dan Gun Woo is the son of Dan Hyo Chang, one of the members of Congress. Dan Hyo Chang emerged as an issue due to his son’s illegal admission to science schools, which resulted his son to get transferred to an ordinary high school. Everyone in his class already
knows he got caught with illegal admission and got transferred to here.
Gun Woo got his seat next to Hyun Min, the class president. Gun Woo friendly talks to Hyun Min to say hi, but he says it’s no good for Gun Woo to talk to him and tries to avoid Gun Woo. It’s because Hyun Min has being bullied in his class. During the recess, other
classmates with lots of curiosities came up to Gun Woo and showered him with questions.
The bullies came up to Hyun Min to torture and beat him saying he was in their way. At that moment, Gun Woo tells them to stop because he was talking to his classmate Hyun Min.
Gun Woo visited cafeteria with Hyun Min and was informed of brief introduction of school from Hyun Min. Taekyung, the son of vice president of Song Myung Group which is the third-largest chaebol in the country, entered the school and changed the violent atmosphere that spread in the school into different culture. The way how he changed the school is gambling. Taekyung created his own coin and distributed it to entire school. Teachers and the adults knew it was gambling, but they passed it in a restful mood because violence was reduced. Hyun Min continues explaining and said that it was quite obvious for Taekyung to be able to seize the power within the school. The reason why Hyun Min has been bullied is because he resisted against to Taekyung by taking actions like reporting to office of Education. Gun Woo agrees to Hyun Min.
One guy appeared in front of those two and he was Meng Ju Mong, the leading committee of the school. Ju Mong suggested Gun Woo work for Taekyung, but Gun Woo rejected. A teacher intervened and stopped them when Ju Mong was about to behave violently toward Gun Woo. But Ju Mong didn’t give up and came to Gun Woo during recess to suggest a game for gambling.
So it begins. Classmates gathered to watch the game and Gun Woo raised the bet by 5 times of it. Then he tells Hyun Min that he will prove Hyun Min is not wrong.
Basically, the school that was in the hand of Taekyung has started to change little by little since Gun Woo came to school. It seems like an ordinary comic of bullies in school that is added with a topic of gambling, but meaningful and suspicious past of the main character Gun Woo stimulates our curiosities. Moreover, its fine drawing style that is stable and strong attracts people and makes them fall into the story.
However, there is one point for us to go over. Although it deals with different stories as going along, this Webtoon was controversial in the beginning because it was similar to ‘Kakegurui,’ the Japanese comic. The overall setting, flow, and direction were similar in many ways and the readers called for an explanation. But, it is such a flaw that the comic continues being published without any management or indication of position by the writer or the agency.
