The protagonist Song Woo-yeon is the second daughter who has been living with an older and a younger brother under the patriarchal family. Constant comparisons and evaluations led her to grow timid, introverted and less confident. One day, while being treated as the nuisance between an older brother who goes to a prestigious college and a younger brother who is acclaimed as a gifted young man, Yeon-woo meets 'Spirit Fingers' .What happens afterward is not unrealistic per se, but it surely is unbelievable for Woo-yeon. The place where you can run away from everyday life to talk and laugh by drawing whichever painting you want to draw and wearing whichever dress code you wish to wear. It's a space that Woo-yeon has never imagined about.
In 'Spirit Fingers', people are called by colors, not by names. Escaping from one's name suggests great significance. Human beings get a name when they are born, and they become bound to it, live by it. Usually, it is the parents who give names to their children. Children, therefore, get to live by the name and shape provided by their parents. Woo-yeon's life may be the life I want to live, but fundamentally her life is built by her parents and she only lives within the boundary that her parents have set for her. Such frames begin to change after she enters the 'Spirit Fingers' and gets to go by the name of 'Baby Blue' which she chooses for herself.
'Spirit Fingers' is a group that draws pictures. They draw croquis once a week with a theme and dress code. Dress codes are usually selected from the color they chose. Blue Finger wears blue clothes, Khaki Finger wears khaki clothes, and Black Finger wears black clothes and so on. Every member at 'Spirit Fingers' still have their daily lives to carry on but they get the opportunity to get out of the society and others' definitions of what they see in them to live in their own color and shape for a while.
Moreover, they become the models themselves to show their own concepts to other members, give positive feedback to each other, and naturally develop self-esteem and confidence. What was most needed by Woo-yeon was such environment. The space in which she can exist as herself, and the self-esteem that she gains from getting recognized. Through such process, she becomes a person who can express her opinions more actively.
Once you know your color, it's time to mix it with the color of others. In
Woo-yeon has finally solidified her color so that she can now share her opinions in front of her mother who was so frightening before and talk with her brother Udol, who was mistaken for ignoring her. From there on, it is the time to witness the process of influencing others with Woo-yeon own color. In that sense,
