One day, while preparing for the popular 'Hungry Bird (Angry Bird)’ game, someone’s trick makes Patch’s identity exposed to “Bird’ that is the main character in the game, and it causes the Hungry Bird broke down.

He did his best, however his greed for work put an actor pig into critical condition. Now the pig is facing the danger of being 'Vegetable Pig'. The superior office asks its responsibility to Assistant Manager Patch and demotes him.

‘Assistant Manager Patch’, who was the nominee for the manager of the best Mobile Game Department, is now a member of the ‘Classic Game Department‘, which nobody is interested in. As soon as he puts on the name tag, his image becomes pixelated which is appropriate for the Classic Game Department. The thumbnail shown in the mobile graphic in the beginning, is changed to be the classic game style. This kind of detail is also a key to enjoy the webtoon.

But the current ranking of this cartoon is in the middle ranks. Isn’t the drawing familiar to you? There is also an evaluation that the webtoon doesn’t jump to the eyes at the beginning. With the artist, Gaspard’s unique idea and drawing, this cartoon has a high entry barrier. That’s why my review highlights the early story and I hope it will help readers who approach this cartoon for the first time. So, that's about the beginning of the story, and the further story goes on as Assistant Manager Patch’s journey in the Classic Game Department.

★ General Review: Fresh game webtoon with full of creativity!

This cartoon reminds me of ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ which has a theme of game. While Wreck-It Ralph is story-telling in a viewpoint of a ‘villain’ who don’t get attention amongst the main characters in the game, 'Guardians of the Video Game' steps forward and focuses on game operators who are not even recognized.

It's very fresh and original that I can tell you I've never seen such a cartoon or game like this.

From the main setting to the names of the characters, you can see the traces of artists efforts to be delicate. This review only explains the intro part of the work that is serially published now, and I think there are key factors to enjoy the new way of fun regarding stories of NPC or monsters whom the hero encounters during the adventure or the part that exciting episodes are combined to.

It has been serially published up to the current 45 episodes while I’m writing a review, and recently, a huge twist has caused many readers to fall into the panic, which gives a great evaluation since readers find out that the cartoon has foreshadowed so far.

The game webtoon, 'Guardians of the Video Game' continuously presents a new way of fun. This well-made webtoon has shown a lot to readers, but there are more to be coming up. Despite the high entry barrier, it is a great work to recommend to many people.
