The movie was released when rumors spread about the destruction of the earth in 2012. Not only the movie but also many contents related to the destruction of the planet/the extinction of humanity. The characters show their positive values like humanity, along with the hideous nature of humanity at the time of the solemn atmosphere. After all those monotonous stories about disasters, the stories have become a cliché. The stories about apocalypse have become outdated and uninteresting to the readers.

Nonetheless, there is still some work that does not follow those trends and only uses ‘Doomsday” as the subject matter to secure its identity. <Moon You> by Jo Suk is one of them. 

<Moon You> is the new comics by Cho Suk, released on June 2016. <Tidal Territory>, his previous work related to the disaster on earth, got good response due to its innovative plots and short storyline with concrete materials with only 14 episodes. It was an opportunity to see the other side of the Cho Suk who had been only working on the comics related to his daily life, <The Sound of Heart>. That is why the upcoming comics by Cho Suk author were thought to be another piece of heavy vibe work just like the last one. As the prologue showed the readers, the storyline of the destruction of earth and the researcher left alone on the moon seemed to confirm the dark side of the work. However, the reality was different; there was no dark side at all. 

The storyline was humorous. It was just like another episode of <The Sound of Heart> that take place on the moon. Honestly, I was not happy when I first realized it was such a work because Cho Suk liked dark storytelling as much as he liked bright humor. However, as the storyline developed to some extent, I think this work is better than his previous works. It is because a clever combination of his unique ability of storytelling, sense of humor, and heavy materials gives a sense of satisfaction as if you are looking at a new genre. 

Since the series have just begun, the stories did not progress much on why the character is left alone on the moon and continuation of his life with psychological burden after.

 

And people who haven’t actually vanished are watching the protagonist’s life with unstable sound and video. And that NASA is preparing for his return plan and editing some of the videos that are being transmitted.

It is satisfying that Cho Suk work’s on a different genre of comics other than the <Sound of the Heart>. His story about a different world is exceptionally charming.
