After suffering from her looks, the protagonist, Jugyeong Lim, reforms herself as an undeniable beauty with her hard-earned cosmetic skill. The difference between before and after her makeup is like that neighbors ask her family if they had one more daughter than it really has. From the high school, she totally made it to launder (?) her identity. She even became a star in the social media, and she was doing well in her school. Though she got to have quite outstanding looks, she didn’t get to get along with bad company or she became a big star in her school. It would be a boring cliché if she did.

Jugyeong gets to go out to a study group of Japanese language, and there she meets Suho, an extremely handsome boy. But it isn’t actually her first time to meet him. With no makeup, she met Suho at the book rental shop and went through various things. 

Fortunately, Suho doesn’t recognize Jugyeong armed with full makeup, but it doesn’t last very long. It’s hardly a spoiler, because this webtoon’s genre is that of Jugyeong with her makeup deceives even the core main characters like Suho to enjoy a double life.

The dude, Suho, has a quite unique character, too. Considering his attitude toward girls or his tone and manner, it seems he’s quite distant to the common high school boys. His looks are not common, to begin with. He gets tangled with Jugyeong for their common hobby, the Japanese study group, and his knowledge on her secret of makeup. Unfortunately for Jugyeong, who is likely praying for her peaceful high school life to go on, it looks like more troubles are on the way because of Suho.

Many characters appear, but the core theme is ‘looks’. It’s still in the early stage – seemingly it was quite a hit when it was in the Best Challenge, but I didn’t have a chance to read it then – and the exact direction of development is yet to see, but I guess the looks will be the main material of the conflict. Because the secret Jugyeong is hiding (maybe not enough to be called a secret, though) is that kind of thing. No matter your opinion on it is a criticism against lookism, a realistic compromise or an agreement on that, as long as you’re reading this webtoon, it seems you can’t avoid the discourse on the face and body.

Overall, it’s a webtoon seemingly true to so-called ‘Line Webtoon taste’. A pretty drawing not to invoke strong preferences, the material of the school days and the looks which is easy to earn empathy from readers in their teens and their 20s, romance between a pretty girl and a handsome boy, and so forth. It seems it will be an average at best for the readers who has an unusual taste, like me, but considering the early deployment or the capability to go smoothly on some picky issues which can be controversial, it comes to my mind that it won’t be a loss at least as well.
