<The name of the male protagonist of this webtoon is ‘Damon’, not Demon. According to the story, he seems to be the spirit of a mountain. Other ghosts who live in his mountain calls him “sir”>   

‘Ghost Wife’ actually means a ghost’s wife. It means the wife has been picked to be married with the ghost. This title and thumbnail suggest the genre of this webtoon to be a horror. The overall drawing style seems to be cute, but ghosts are pretty hideously depicted. On the first episode, ‘Damon’ had creepy look and frightening scenes made readers thought that this webtoon must be a horror. 

These thoughts come upon when you read the first episode, but if you keep reading while being captivated under this webtoon’s special attraction, you get to realize this webtoon is a sweet romance under the mask of horror. Furthermore, it’s a full-fledged romance with love-triangle starring second male protagonist. The overall synopsis goes like this. One day, an ordinary high school student, Liz finds Damon who suddenly intruded into Liz’s room. She was scared but it was too unrealistic, so she thought it was a dream, but there was a hand print on the window the next day.  

Damon who came into Liz’s room was actually a ghost, and he happened to mark Liz as his wife. (he left a physical mark.) Since that day, unrealistic and completely not normal things keep happening to Liz’s ordinary life. Since she got selected to be Damon’s wife, many other ghosts started to target Liz’s body. (Damon is a very strong ghost, so other ghosts find Liz’s body that contains Damon’s energy like it’s a nutritious meal.) Also, she started seeing hideous ghosts that she couldn’t see before, and many different ghosts started to come and visit Liz. Regardless of her intention, she was forced to enter the world of ghosts.  This was all because Damon, a transcendent being, chose Liz as his wife. (Damon, a high ranked spirit, is capable of some type of mind manipulation, so he immersed into Liz’s life without people finding it weird, except that he couldn’t fool Liz’s brother completely.) In the beginning, Damon acts very childish. His mental state was like a clean sheet of paper without moral standards of good and evil. He only behaves for his wife, Liz, and Damon’s these adorable behaviors put smiles on readers’ faces.  

<This handsome man is our second male protagonist. He started helping Liz without her knowing, and he fell in love with her unfortunately. Other than Damon, He is familiar with human life, so he helps Liz with human life related favors occasionally. He also has comparable power as Damon’s. His actual identity is a serpent which has enough qualifications to evolve into a dragon. His mother also shows up in the webtoon, and she is a dragon, another transcendent being.>

As Liz spends time with Damon meeting many people and ghosts while the story progresses, she started to trust Damon (because he unconditionally loves her), and she started to feel love towards Damon as well. Well this probably is a matter of fact because how could a woman cannot fall in love with a man who always take care of her, comes to save her every day when she is in danger, and gives trust and love to her unconditionally. Also, their destiny was not just simply a choice in the beginning. Damon didn’t mark her just because he liked her. 

There has been many foreshadows that suggests this since the beginning: Liz was actually the reincarnation of the woman who Damon loved few hundred years ago. The woman who was abandoned in the middle of the mountain just because she was blind. Damon fell in love for the first time when he saw her.  Her skin smelled like a flower and her smile made Damon’s heart, that has been stopped for a few hundred years, beat again. However, he lost the woman he loved without even knowing that he loved her, and finally he realized his love her after she died.   

He waited over hundred years until she reincarnated. In order to not repeat the same mistake, he decided to leave a mark on Liz as soon as he found her. This webtoon first seemed like a frightening horror, but it actually was a touching romance.
