There is a story that after a horror movie [Hostel] released, the number of travelers to Slovakia is reduced sharply. The movie is about people getting in a terrible experience in a strange place. What if a kind person is actually a horrible killer? At the strange place, what if a hospitable hostel which the kind man introduced is a cannibalism slaughterhouse? It is a really horrible imagination. It has been 10 years since the movie released. These days, when someone is afraid of traveling Slovakia because of the movie Hostel, we ask ‘What the hell is the Hostel?’. Like this, we, mature citizens forget about the Hostel, but there is a new reminder webtoon to horrify people. A name of this webtoon is the G’day.

 A working holiday is a residence permit allowing young people to undertake employment in the country which signed the treaty between their country. Many young people go abroad to find their dream and love. They usually leave for Japan, Australia and Canada and so on. Many of them choose between a deep-rooted illness or a hope and come back to their homeland. However, sometimes, some people don’t choose between two and lay their dead bodies in a baggage compartment. Whenever we hear their horrible death and experience, we remember the nightmare of the Hostel again and become a coward. Due to a fear of ‘What if those horrible things happen to me!’, we close a door and relieve.

 Catherine left for a working holiday and suddenly Zion has lost contact with his sister Catherine. Zion goes to Australia to find his sister and meets Hans who is strongly suspected of murdering his sister. Every scene of Hans seems to say that ‘he slaughtered Zion’s sister Catherine’. The first impression of Hans is too obvious and clear, so every reader may know who the murder is and what happens next and conflict among the main character and others. The early phase of the webtoon is drawn from Zion’s point of view and in the early phase Zion looks for proof of Han’s murder.

  This webtoon doesn’t make extra and backup characters just stand like a wall. They are not like a typical NPC of mystery story who just says an alibi. They have their own stories and take their own parts. In the end, events which seem to be unrelated are connected to one big story. This connecting process is utterly systematic and natural. While reading down this webtoon, readers keep asking ‘Why Smilie did that thing at that moment?’ and at some point, readers realize ‘That’s why she did that!’ and notice that the story of Smilie is connected. When a reader becomes curious about another part of the story, then that curious part is connected and goes on. Because of these connections, different stories in the same timeline are not boring in this webtoon.

 Talking about the violence of the G’day, the G’day knows how to describe violence inconveniently. Not a murder’s point of view, a victim’s point of view for describing violence is fresh and less provocative and also inconvenient. A way of strongly describing inconvenience of one-sided violence is much better than the way of the [Hostel] which has been criticized as ‘Torture Pornography’. Also, the way of description makes this webtoon more twisted and horrible.

 I think I overdo the compliments. I want to tell some personal complaints and finish this review. Hans is way too unnatural, so it is a little bit plain. Also, the story of a late phase is too way unnatural.

Hans came with bloody clothes and claimed that ‘Zion hit me and run!’ It looks awkward and unnatural. It is a well-structured drama, but as a thriller that’s not good enough.
