I love games very much. I played many games since my childhood, and I was in love with them. I played many online games and many console games, but my favorite genre among them was RPG. Yes, the RPG in the title of this webtoon was the favorite genre of mine. Maybe because of that, I still like to play games, and when I choose a work, I strongly prefer genres related to games. No matter it’s a webtoon, a novel, a movie, or an animation, I’m crazy for game fantasy genre. And now I found a webtoon which is game fantasy genre, or which is a game by itself. I was so much expecting.

 

 

The work starts with a human yelling at three other humans only with their silhouette, that ‘it was a mistake to trust with you’. It’s a very heavy atmosphere, and it seems somewhat meaningful. For the appearance of their silhouettes, they seem important. Moreover, the angry man is shedding tears. From the lines, it seemed he was telling them ‘I’ll never step in this crappy game ever again’ as he was going to quit the game because of some trouble with them. My speculation was right, and the story begins as two years passes in no time and the protagonist, who seems to be the angry guy, returns to the game. He starts in a high-level hunting field only with a novice’s clothing set and a novice’s wooden sword. It seems he’s hacked or something, and it is a surprising scene to watch for other players. They have all the right to be surprised see a player in newbie items, because the hunting field is even difficult for high levelers.

 

In the field, the protagonist meets a female player. Actually, the field was a dungeon called ‘the lair of death dragon’ for a raid monster, and in there the monsters were to be hunted by dozens of high rankers. As soon as the female player sees him, she does him a favor by telling him to escape during she gets the aggro, but then he laughs and kills her (?). When he stabs her with his wooden sword, she is incapacitated, and after a few seconds, she dies. But it was all for escaping the field: he revives her with resurrection skill which is allowed exclusively for high tier clerics, or not known even they could use it, and they escape together to the village. The title of the game they’re playing is ‘Espera’. It is ongoing its service for 3 years, and they say it has the highest number of simultaneous logins among fantasy virtual reality games. About 93% of players use virtual mode, and the rest uses PC mode, with old but familiar interface. The PC mode has some restriction in the game and mainly used by manufacturing users, and our protagonist uses virtual mode, of course.

 

 

And the hidden identity of the protagonist is the super awesome guild master of ‘Hero’ guild, who was the only tier 10 cleric, from a long time ago. The long-haired guy and the other three people were members of Hero guild, and FYI, the long hair is not character’s base hair, but an item called Black Tiger Wig. They say it’s a super rare item, for it’s the only item in the entire server.

 

The Eastern Continent is a content not unlocked yet, and it’s not opened for some months after it was to be opened. There’s a behind story on it…

 

A year or two ago, many prominent guilds allied to unlock to manufacture a flying ship which is used to go to the flying continent. And there was a jewel, the core of the flying ship: Nibelungen’s Tear. It was a unique item, and only one of it exists. It cannot be traded, destroyed, or stored in the bank, and the owner was the protagonist, the former guild master of Hero guild. But as the protagonist quit the game, the item went missing, and the Eastern Continent came to yet to be unlocked until now. So, he was such a big influencer both side of good and evil. Honestly, I don’t understand why the developer did that way, but that was the behind story of the new Continent. After then, the protagonist goes to the Eastern Continent, and reunites with members of Hero guild again, clearing the old misunderstanding. A story of the past also appears. One interesting thing is, all of these things are happening in the game. The author makes excellent jokes with this setting, like a player in PC mode whose typing is so slow, so he stays silent as he has to type all the messages if he speaks. Also, the controls of each players are very different, and a female player is actually played by a male user. Like that, the author makes good witty jokes from the characteristics of the game.
